San Francisco Stella Adler

Stella Adler, was an acting coach whose fame was cemented by the success of some of her students Marlon Brando and Robert DeNiro among them. Stella Adler was the only teacher from the Group Theatre to have studied acting technique with Stanislavski himself. stella Adler's technique was founded in the idea that one must not use memories from their own past to conjure up emotion, but rather using the given circumstances. Stella Adler's technique relies on the carrying through of tasks, needs, wants, and objectives. It seeks to stimulate the actor's imagination with the use of as-if's. stella Adler often preached that we are what we do and not what we say. When a student takes a stage acting class in the Bay Area at The Jean Shelton Acting Lab they receive excellent instruction from highly experienced teachers who use the well regarded input from such well know acting instructors as Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner. Many students who have studied at a Bay Area stage acting class have gone on to have successful careers in both method film acting and method stage acting.
